How Our Online Piano Lessons Work: A Simple Guide
Online piano lessons are super easy & convenient to attend, making the learning experience hugely enjoyable and beneficial. Wondering what to expect and how our sessions work? Look no further - here’s how!
1. Setting Up Your Space
Before your lesson begins, you’ll need to have your learning space set up ready. Ideally this will be somewhere quiet & comfortable that you won’t be distracted and where you have access to your instrument.
Set up your device (laptop, ipad, tablet) with a stable internet connection to the side of your piano; position it on a side table, chair, etc so that we can see the tops of the your piano keys and you sitting playing (our first lesson enables us to get things set up just right, so don’t worry if this is tricky to work out beforehand).
You will also need:
- good lighting (an angled lamp is useful)
- a pencil
- a notebook
2. Joining The Lesson
Prior to your lesson, we will email you an invite to the lesson. We normally start with a Zoom link, but depending on your internet strength, we may need to switch to an alternative online meeting platform like Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Simply click the link at your scheduled time and you’ll be in the virtual classroom!
3. Interactive Learning Experience
During the lesson, Amy will guide you through exercises, technique, and songs in real time. We’ll work through a foundational learning syllabus of 3 books, and Amy will set you homework to do between lessons. All notes from each lesson will be emailed to you so that you can reference them during your home learning, and should you have any queries you can always reach out to Amy for further guidance and support.
